Kurt South, Texas singer/songwriter, musician, showman, country, blues, Americana, you name it he can play it, all round great guy is returning to El Dorado Springs Aug. 8 and 9 for two shows.

Friday night, he will be at Capone's Restaurant and Lounge at Great Oaks and Saturday night he will be appearing in the El Dorado Springs City Park with his captivating and entertaining show as part of the Summer Concert Series.

Graduating from Texas Christian University, his first composition was the underground country hit "Pawn Shop Guitar," which led to the release of his first albulm in 2003 "Loaded." Now with three more albums out and more in the works, South's performance is one that this area is very fortunate to get, promoters say.

On this tour he is bringing with him Geoff West, a Dallas/Fort Worth guitar veteran with a R&B and blues background. West has been playing professionally for more than 15 years. Also joining South will be Collin Keeton, bassist. Keeton is from a very musical family, and has been playing music all his life. He has played professionally for more than 10 years in rock, blues, country, and jazz bands throughout Texas and Arkansas.

South would rather one listen and draw his own conclusion. "My material draws from many places, often ones that don't sound like me at all. I've never been completely comfortable being known strictly as a 'Texas' guy. I do live there and love it, but I also have lived in several different states whose local sounds have found their way into my songs," he said. "It's all the same anyway -- good music. Where the people were from who made it is just geography. The songs actually come from individuals. I just want it sound like me."
