Man hurt in Monday accident

Emergency personnel investigate an accident at the intersection of highways 54 and 43, 4 miles west of Nevada, at about 11:45 a.m., Monday. According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash was caused when a northbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Fred T. Durnell, 86, Moundville, pulled into the path of an eastbound 2006 Jeep Wrangler driven by Robert G. Claypool, 42, Fort Scott. Durnell was taken by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed with extensive damage. --Steve Moyer/Daily Mail
