Mini-Stock Special highlights Nevada Speedway action

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

The Mini-Stock Special was held on Oct. 4, along with races in each of the other classes and the racing was exciting. Almost too much excitement for this reporter.

During the Factory Stock feature, the cars of Daniel Jesson, Tiny Joles and Mark Godsey got together as they were racing for the lead. This resulted in Joles going into the infield and crashing into the victory lane sign.

Jesson and Godsey lost sheet metal and none of them finished the race.

Mechanic's races in all classes were held tonight. Winners were, Late Model --Gary Stevens, Lamar; Modified -- Jeff Brockman, Nevada; Street Stock -- Barry Domer, Nevada; Factory Stock -- Jeremy Bennett, Ottawa, KS and Mini-Stock -- James Hallarm, Nevada.

On Oct. 11, the MLRA will travel to our race track. Supporting cars that evening will be the Modified and Factory Stock.

Join us each and every week to catch all the action at the biggest little racetrack in the country.

Late Model

Donnie Timmerman got the lead at the start of the feature, but not for long before Brantlee Gotschall powered around him.

As they raced around the track and encountered lapped traffic Gotschall took the high side and Timmerman the inside with both cars crossing under the flag stand side by side.

A yellow flag flew for parts on the track and this closed the field behind Timmerman for the restart, since we go back to the last completed lap for the restart lineup.

Timmerman got a good jump on the restart with Gotschall closing in on the remaining laps.

Timmerman captured the win, his first of the season.

Modified

At the beginning of the Feature Brian Bolin jumped into the lead and left the field behind as he claimed the win, his ninth of the season.

Street Stock

Justin Amick got the lead at the start of the Feature. Chase Domer chased down Amick and gain the lead. Domer maintained the lead through the balance of the race to claim the win, his first ever.

Chase is a second generation driver in his first year of racing and seems to be following in his dad's footsteps.

Factory Stock

Tiny Joles jumped into the lead and the start of the feature. Daniel Jesson and Mark Godsey both were attempting to gain the lead. First one would get beside Joles and then the other tried the inside of the track.

As they were racing, Jesson, Godsey and Joles got together, resulting in Jesson losing a lot of sheet metal and Joles shooting into the infield, crashing into the victory lane sign, tearing steel posts from the ground and sending trophies flying before coming to a stop against the photographer's vehicle.

This brought out a red flag so the track could be cleared and victory lane put back together.

On the restart, Lehmann was in the lead and held off a strong challenge from Paul Snyder to claim the win, his ninth of the season.

Mini-Stock

The $200 to win feature got under way with Greg Cassidy in the lead. Andrew Johnson raced up and claimed the lead.

Cassidy tried to reclaim the lead, going on the high side and then the inside of the track. Johnson got a little sideways, allowing Cassidy to once again claim the lead.

Robert Somers Jr. found himself in the air off the side of Johnson's car and claimed the second position. Cassidy claimed the win, his second of the season and second in a row.
