Ron Clow, Nevada planning director, said that this year they will split the clean-up day activities between the Nevada-Vernon County Recycling Center at 301 N. Colorado St., and at city property across the street from the city's Public Works Department building at 605 S. Jefferson Street.
This was the original location of KNEM.
"We will have dumpsters for solid waste on Smelter Hill," Clow said, referring to city property at the intersection of Jefferson and Maple streets in the southeast part of the city.
That is also where people should take their appliances they want to get rid of.
He said that they will also be accepting yard waste at the city's newly completed compost site on the same property.
He said that they will have several city employees at that location with backhoes to put trash into the dumpsters and provide other assistance.
Clow said that they will have the household hazardous drop-off at the Recycling Center, as well as the tire drop-off, which will be handled by David's Tire and the electronics disposal site.

The reason for splitting the clean-up activities between two sites is to keep the lines shorter and reduce the congestion at the Recycling Center, which will be conducting its normal Saturday recycling activities as well as hosting the tire and household hazardous waste drop-offs.
"This will give us more space and will make it easier to keep up with the flow of cars and trucks that will come by," Clow said.
During the spring clean-up he said that people often had to wait in line for 20 minutes or more to unload their trash, he said.
"This is going to be a lot more efficient way to deal with this," Clow said.
He said that the best way for people to get to the Public Works Building is to go south on Elm Street from Austin, then east on Maple Street until they come to Jefferson Street. The recycling activities will be on the west side of the street.
Clow said that the most of the cost of the clean-day will come from state grants this year. In the past grant money from the Region M Solid Waste District could not be used to pay dump fees, since the goal of the Solid Waste Districts is to reduce the amount of trash going to landfills.

The original location of KNEM was on the southeast corner of the square, upstairs on the southwest corner. 1946 or 1947 I believe.
