Workshop offers tips for making a business plan

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

A business plan is vital to your business success -- regardless of your organization's size or scope.

Attendees can learn to create this organizational roadmap for a small company with the University of Missouri Extension's "The Basics of Writing a Business Plan" class Monday, Oct. 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Nevada TeleCenter.

"During this workshop you'll learn to create a business plan," said Kathy Macomber, Business Development Specialist, University of Missouri Extension, "which can help you define your concept, evaluate the competition, determine risks, and estimate your costs."

Lending institutions consider the business plan a critical part of any loan application. A well-written business plan gives any financial institution a better idea of who you are and your ability to repay the loan. Your managers and employees can use the business plan to stay focused on the company mission and to make better business decisions.

Your suppliers and partners can use your business plan to better understand your company's operations and goals.

Program highlights include the executive summary, marketing analysis including customer analysis and competitor analysis, management and employees, operations and location, and more. Cost for this three-hour session program is $35 and advance registration is required.

For information and to register, please call (417) 448-2560 or stop by the Vernon County Extension Office.
