Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt reveals the news two turkeys were happy to hear. --submitted photo
In a surprise twist, Gov. Matt Blunt pardoned two Missouri turkeys pm Tuesday at the Missouri Governor's Mansion as part of this year's Thanksgiving celebration highlighting the blessings that Missourians have to be thankful for this holiday season. More than 4.5 million votes were cast to name the lucky turkeys.

"Missourians are used to close elections, and apparently that also goes for this year's contest to name the lucky turkey which is still too close to call," Gov. Blunt said. "With the ballots still being counted, and Turkulese and Stewie locked in an unexpectedly tight race, I have decided to pardon two turkeys this year and save both Stewie and Turkulese from ending up on a dinner plate."

Students from Eugene Elementary in Eugene and Richland Elementary in Richland selected the winning turkey names from those submitted.

The Biggest turkey up there is Blunt.

At least he was smart enough not to run again after serving just 1 term!
