Kenneth Raymond Swan, 89, of Nevada, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Christian Health Care, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. He was born on Dec. 21, 1918, in Richards, Mo., to Oscar Sawn and Nina McCoy Swan, on June 30, 1938, he was married in Liberty, Mo., to Dorothy L. Moberly and she survives of the home.

Kenny grew up in the Richards area, and attended school there. He served for four years in the United States Army during World War II where he was stationed in England. Following his time in the service, he returned home to Nevada where he has lived ever since. Kenny worked for Richardson Motors in Nevada for many years and later served 16 years as the Vernon County Treasurer until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., and the BPO Elks.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy; two sisters, Eleanor Olson, of Nevada, and Fern Pratt, of College Station, Texas; two brothers, Neale Swan, of Nevada, and Gordon Swan, of Independence. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Jarrel, and one brother, Lawrence.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Newton Burial Park, in Nevada, under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home. Friends may call from 10 a.m., today, until 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday at the funeral home.
