Miss Merry Christmas Pageant, parade winners announced

Josie Foley, 2009 Miss Merry Christmas, performed a dramatic reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" for her talent part of the competition during the Miss Merry Christmas Pagent Saturday afternoon in the Nevada High School auditorium. Other winner were: Sydney Ernsbarger, Miss Candy Cane, Haiden Richmond, Miss Snowflake and Alisha Conner, Miss Holly.

The winners of the 2008 Vernon County Miss Merry Christmas Pageant, as well as the Nevada/Vernon County Area Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade winners, have been announced.

Pageant winners

More than 30 contestants in all competed for titles in four age divisions in the Miss Merry Christmas Pageant, held Friday evening. Sidney Ernsbarger, sponsored by Ernsarger Heating and Cooling was named Miss Candy Cane; first runner up was Amber Marie Weisensee, sponsored by Eaton Farms. Haiden Richmond, sponsored by Millennium 4-H, was named Miss Snowflake with Lauren Harreld, sponsored by Mobile Auto Restoration Services as first runner-up. Alisha Connor was named Miss Holly, with first runner-up Gabby Gire, sponsored by Shear Attitude. Josie Foley, sponsored by the Milo-Oakdale 4-H club was named Miss Merry Christmas, with Alexandria Holder as first runner-up.

Parade winners

Winners in the 2008 "RED-y for Christmas" Parade, held Saturday afternoon, were adult, first place, Oakton United Methodist Church; adult, second place, Pine Street Baptist Church; youth, first place, Cub Scout Pack 117; youth, second place, St. Mary's School; Business, first place, 3M; and business, second place, Hertzberg Furniture Com-pany. The overall Spirit of Christmas Award winner was Milo-Oakdale 4-H.
