Iva Irene Bley, 91, resident of Fort Scott, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at Mercy Health Center. She was born April 15, 1917, in Sheridan, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard Augusta Pottorff and Dollie Marker Pottorff. She married Charley Bley on April 5, 1956, in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death in 1991. In addition to being a homemaker, Iva was a 44 year member of the Kansas-Missouri Jolly Circle Club as well as a member of the Brethren Church. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, sewing, gardening and especially playing dominoes.

Survivors include two daughters, Deloris Morrow, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Wanda Coffman, Fort Scott; two stepsons, Marvin Bley, Montrose, Mo., and Clyde Bley, Moundville, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Glenna Gordon, Moundville, Mo., Hazel Gulliford, Deerfield, Mo., and Charlene Widmar, Franklin, Kan. Also surviving is a brother, Olan Pottorff, Moorhead, Iowa; three sisters, Dorothy Hovey, Nevada, Grace Hill, Fort Scott, and Bertha Toby, Orville, Calif.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Norman German; sister, Vera Ogren; brother, Calvin Pottorff and stepson, Lee Bley.

Pastor Roy Widmar will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Fort Scott. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m., Tuesday until service time at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Jolly Circle Club and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S.
