| The Nevada Tiger Pit youth wrestling club has added two new state champions to its list. The club competed in the Missouri Rookie State wrestling tournament in St. Joseph. While only three wrestlers chose to compete, all three wrestlers placed in the state meet, which showcased more than 1,000 wrestlers. Kaden Denney became the state champ in the 5 to 6-year-old, 45-pound division with a record of 4-0. Colten Shrewsbury also brought home the state championship in the 9 to 10-year-old, 75-pound division with a record of 4-0. Brock Marquardt also was not to be denied his medal and came back strong on the back side of his 7 to 8-year-old, 50-pound bracket and took second with a record of 3-2. "All three wrestlers stepped up their game for this tough tourney. I could not be more impressed with how the kids rose to the challenge," said coach Chip Balk. --Submitted Photo |
