Myrle Delano Poyner, age 75, resident of Richards, died early Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 13, 1933, in Richards, the son of Leo William Poyner and Elsie Pearl Burris Poyner. Myrle worked for Key Work Clothes and was later employed by the Nevada School District as a custodian. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially gardening. He was a member of the Richards Christian Church.
Survivors include a brother, Robert William Poyner, of Richards; and two sisters, Virginia Meek and Martha Cook, both of Fort Scott. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Poyner.
Graveside services for Myrle Poyner will be held Friday, Feb. 27, at 1:30 p.m., in the Richland Cemetery, in Richards. Memorials are suggested to the Richards Senior Citizens Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
