Mark Andrew Liter, 31, Carl Junction, Mo., formerly of Nevada, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2009. He was born July 14, 1977, in Nevada, to Wilson E. Liter and Susan S. Swager Liter. He married Amy M. Carlson on Dec. 19, 1999, in Indianola, Iowa, and she survives of the home.

Mark grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1996. He graduated from Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar, Mo., in 1999. In 2003, he graduated from the University of Missouri Law School, Columbia, Mo. He worked for the Warten, Fisher, Lee, and Brown Law Firm in Joplin since 2003 and has been a partner with the firm since 2008. Mark was a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Jasper County Bar Association. He was an avid Red Sox fan.

Survivors in addition to his wife Amy, include his three children, Anna Claire Liter, Kate Elizabeth Liter, and Jack Andrew Liter, all of the home; his parents, Wilson and Susan Liter, Nevada; one sister, Holly Liter, Nashville, Tenn.; paternal grandmother, Mary Ellen Liter, Nevada, father and mother-in-law, Mike and Shari Carlson, Winterset, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Matt Carlson and his wife Diana, Norwalk, Conn.; one nephew, Blake, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, March 8, at the First Baptist Church in Nevada, with Dr. William Cox officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A private committal service will follow on Monday, March 9, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until noon on Sunday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Those who wish may contribute in his memory to a memorial scholarship fund for his children in care of Myles Miller at Edward D. Jones or in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
