Richard Sunderwirth will be speaking on April 11 about his extensive research into Civil War events of this area with emphasis on St. Clair County, Osceola, and surrounding communities. Sunderwirth's talk will be at the Tri-County Genealogical Society meeting in El Dorado Springs on Saturday, April 11, at 10 a.m., at the Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 302 Hospital Road. Sunderwirth, who is a "walking encyclopedia" of local history, writes a weekly newspaper article on area history, speaks to many groups including Civil War Round Table meetings and the Governor;s Conference on Tourism in Oklahoma City, Okla., and is also involved in film productions promoting the history of the area. Richard will relate some of his experiences writing "The Burning of Osceola, Missouri" and tell of the events that inspired him to write this book.
The genealogy group includes interested parties from Cedar, Vernon and St. Clair counties and meets monthly with the site alternating between El Dorado Springs and Nevada. The Web site is http:/www.roots
