Tigers compete at Carthage

The Nevada Tigers golf team found themselves in action again in the Sonic Invitational tournament at Carthage High School Wednesday.

The Tigers struggled a bit in the tournament as team, placing 11th of the 20 teams in attendance. The Tigers finished out the day with a final team score of 356, 44 strokes out of the top spot.

Olathe Northwest and Joplin tied for the overall tournament victory, but the Tigers did get one very strong individual performance on the day. Senior Tyler Gast placed fourth out of the 100 golfers participating in the tournament, finishing the course with a final score of 75, just one stroke behind overall winner Matt Ditto of Joplin.

Kenny Hill had the second best performance of the day for Nevada, finishing the course with a score of 87 that put him into a four-way tie for 39th overall. Joseph Ferry finished in a three way tie for 62nd with a 93, while Justin Carter shot a 101 and Raymond Griffin finished at 106 to tie for 82nd and 89th, respectively.

The next competition for Nevada is set for Friday as they travel to Webb City for the Bird Dog Invitational tournament at 8 a.m.
