Nevada's Osage Prairie YMCA is set to make a big splash with the opening of its new pool on Monday, May 18. The completion of this community-supported project could not come at a more exciting time as families and students alike anticipate the approaching swim season. The YMCA's new pool features four 25-yard lanes and a leisure pool with a simple, one-step entry designed for easy accessibility. Organizations such as the R-5 school system and the Nevada Neptunes, along with a host of others, will finally see their dream of an indoor pool for the whole community become a reality.

Plans for this pool include swimming lessons throughout the year, and open lap swimming and free aerobic classes for members.

In another effort to upgrade member and user benefits, the YMCA recently added even more shine to its luster with the purchase of some brand new Precor cardio fitness machines. These machines have become the very centerpiece of what some have described as a whole new level of fitness training.

Executive Director Matt Schneringer said he has been taken by surprise by the popularity of the new machine, noting that "within two weeks of its purchase, I had requests to get even more AMT machines."

To supplement the purchase of this new fitness equipment the YMCA also has added a free child watch program for parents and free group exercise classes for members. The free child watch program allows parents to enjoy their fitness experience in a more relaxed and leisurely atmosphere. New soft play equipment, designed to help young toddlers and preschoolers with their physical development, has also been added to the mix in the organization's growing list of enhanced member services.

Next fall, the YMCA will open yet one more chapter in its long and exciting history within the Nevada community with the collaboration of a preschool program.

Jan Benbrook has recently announced plans to move her very popular program to the YMCA in an effort to better serve her families. Benbrook's program, coupled with the YMCA's commitment to serving families from all walks of life, promises to make the community resource an even greater benefit to everyone looking for fun, fitness and a family feeling all under one roof, according to Schneringer.
