Vintage Car Rally cruises in

Wednesday, June 24, 2009
Bob Bowen, left, and Everett Adams, look over the 1917 Peerless "Green Dragon" race car entry in the Third Annual Vintage Car Rally Tuesday on the Nevada Square. The car is being driven on the 1,400 mile rally course by John Hollansworth, Hot Springs Village, Ark. and navigated by Robert Dinges, Killen, Ala. This is one of about 70 vintage cars that stopped in Nevada for lunch Tuesday and to visit with local people. Nevada, along with Warsaw, Lebanon, Carthage and Mountain Home, Ark. are vying for the $5,000 prize for being the best lunch stop on the rally. The rally is headquartered in Springfield, with the drivers traveling to a different town each of the five days of the rally. All proceeds from the rally go to autism research. Since the rally started they have donated over $90,000 to autism charities. For more photos, see Page 8 of today's edition of the Nevada Daily Mail. --Ralph Pokorny/Daily Mail
