Sentencing continues in connection with Operation Buckshot

Thursday, June 25, 2009

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Springfield, Mo. has announced that sentencing continues in federal court for defendants connected to Operation Buckshot, a multi-agency investigation into a large-scale drug-trafficking conspiracy that involved the distribution of methamphetamine from California through Kansas City, Mo., and into southwest Missouri. That successful investigation resulted in the seizure of more than 38 pounds of methamphetamine, in excess of $100,000, four vehicles and 89 firearms, along with more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition and blasting caps. Numerous federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in both Missouri and Kansas participated in Operation Buckshot.

Among those recently sentenced is Zachery Erwin, Nevada, who was sentenced to four years and six months in prison without parole, and a fine of $17,500, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Yes, the young man's name has been published, however, let us remember he has a wife and child who will remain living in our community during his time of incarceration. They deserve our utmost respect.

Thank You

I just wonder why? the folks that came from out of state seemed have got less time.. why?... is so much of this stuff around here?

I sure hope and pray...no one would harass a wife and child...because of the husband... that is just wrong...they are suffering already...

My nieces and children told me that this area is known for this and they use a zip code...to talk about it....Wow, that is disturbing..I did not know it was like this here...

I lost my high school friend who was a Police Officer(he had always wanted to be a Policeman)to one of these "speed freaks"...shot him dead with no warning...He had a wife and 2 baby boys...

I can only hope the police clean the street of this POISON and if they need to do it like the OK Corral...that would be just fine

Weird guess my first post has been deleted. First off Erwin played a much larger role then most of you even think. Also where's all the posts saying "Glad the police department putting all these worthless people away for along time?" or "About time they done something with all the drug dealers around here". Strange how a "Up standing" family in the community doesn't have all those negative post on thier sentencing press release.

And to Redbadger,

"I can only hope the police clean the street of this POISON and if they need to do it like the OK Corral...that would be just fine"

They will never clean the streets of the "POISON" you speak of. The "War on Drugs" is 40 years old and more avialible and stronger then ever. All you could do is hope they legalize and regulate it so it makes it harder for children to get ahold of. And yes it's easier for children to get drugs then it is alcohol or cigarette's. Then they could stop making new laws and enforce the ones we already have in place to protect the citizens.

The U.S. has 5% of the worlds population and hold 25% of the worlds prison population. Don't people see something wrong with that?

"Annual Causes of Death in the United States"

Tobacco 435,000

Poor Diet and Physical Inactivity 365,000

Alcohol 85,000

Microbial Agents 75,000

Toxic Agents 55,000

Motor Vehicle Crashes 26,347

Adverse Reactions to Prescription Drugs 32,000

Suicide 30,622

Incidents Involving Firearms 29,000

Homicide 20,308

Sexual Behaviors 20,000

All Illicit Drug Use, Direct and Indirect 17,000

Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs Such As Aspirin 7,600

Marijuana 0

Now take a look at Illicit drug death and then take a look and poor diet , tobacco and such. If drugs were so bad like the DEA, Local police , State police make them out to be why are there so few of deaths? Why don't we make vehicles Illegal and throw people in jail for using/ selling them? Maybe it's time to change the way people think and look at the War on Drugs. Goto the L.E.A.P. website take alook around.

Irwin was the one responsible for it comming out here he. Just think less than five years he will be back in your comunity. Was justice served how safe will the children be in your town. He got a short sentence for his role in the conspiracy. You know how bad these drug users are they go right back into the use who knows who he'll meet in there the connections he can get to know he has the money to bring it right back into your little town in less than five years i'm wondering how much worse it will be. AS far as the family i'm sure they are hurting i feel for them but there is very little doubt that she didn't know what her husband was into.

The people from out of state did not get less time than locals, maybe you should wait for all of them to get sentenced before you got throwing words, check the news papers.
