Nevada Daily Mail columnist Carolyn Gray Thornton, who co-authored "Family Fun and Games A 100-Year Tradition" with her sister, Ellen Gray Massey, will take part in a "Meet the Authors" event slated for 10 a.m., Saturday, July 11, at the Harrisonville branch of the Cass County Public Library.
After a presentation featuring both authors -- Thornton and Massey for the "Family Fun" book, and Massey for a book titled "Brothers Blue & Gray", both will be available for book signings.
"Family Fun and Games" started with the Gray family tradition of playing games together. A few years ago, family members suggested compiling the games into a book to share with other families. Games range from simple activities for people of all ages to elaborate games which involve planning and props.
"Brothers Blue & Gray" is a novel in which Lettie Worthington has a brother fighting in each army in the Civil War, and a fiancé riding with a guerrilla band; but she refuses to take sides. Her efforts go toward saving her family's farm. When she learns both brothers were involved in the Battle of Lexington, Lettie paddles a skiff up the Missouri River to find them.
The event is hosted by the Cass County Public Library Genealogy Branch. For information, call (816) 884-6285 or visit www.casscolibrary.org.
