Norma Day Shearburn

Norma Day Shearburn, 92, Nevada, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009, at Christian Health Care in Nevada following a brief illness. She was born Feb. 7, 1917, in Cedar County, Mo., to Otto Renzie (O.R.) Bright and Daisy Alice Banker Bright. She married Merle H. Shearburn in 1939 in Nevada, and he preceded her in death in 1961.

Norma graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1935. She worked at Key Work Clothes for 27 years then as a cook for Crawford House in Nevada for 10 years until her retirement. She volunteered at The Nevada Senior Center for many years. Norma was a member of the Bronaugh Christian Church and had attended Community Christian Church in Nevada.

Survivors include one daughter, Dawna Haynes of Belton, Mo.; two grandchildren, DeAna Haynes of Liberty, Mo., and Devin Haynes of Belton, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Keely Haynes, Dalton Haynes and Renzee Haynes all of Belton, Mo. Norma was known as "Grandma Sugar" by all of her grandchildren. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Wes Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Worsley cemetery, Bronaugh, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., on Monday, July 13.
