After a week of livestock and non-livestock shows, plus a host of traditions from the coronation of the Vernon County Youth Fair royalty to a watermelon feed to behind-the-scenes fun like dunking a friend with water or seeing who takes home top honors in the Super Teen Contest, the 2009 Vernon County Youth Fair came to a close on Saturday.

Final events included a pet show in which contestants have a chance to show off their knowledge and love of pets from ducks to puppies and kittens. A highlight of the final day of the fair is the livestock auction. Well attended and lasting until nearly midnight, community members came out to support local youth by purchasing livestock.
