Nevada Neptunes season continues

The Nevada Neptunes participated in the Monett Invitational swim meet in Monett, Mo., on June 20 and 21. The meet featured 550 swimmers with 22 Nevada swimmers participating.

A total of 13 swimmers placed in the top eight and scored points for the team, including Jake Asberry, Jesse Claypool, Peyton Claypool, Ashton Eador, Dalton Eador, Carlie McCaffree, Maddie McCaffree, Andrew Messick, Grant Miller, Kylee Nelson, Thomas Prewitt, Hunter Richmond and Paige Webb. Eador had a successful day, breaking a team record in the 50-yard backstroke for the 11 to 12-year-old boy's division, with a time of 36.12 seconds.

The team also participated in the Pittsburg, Kan., Invitational June 27 and 28. Approximately 375 swimmers participated in the meet, including 32 swimmers from the Nevada Neptunes.

Nine swimmers placed in the top six and scored points for the team, including Jake Asberry, Jesse Claypool, Peyton Claypool, Cazden Del Chiaro, Dalton Eador, Katie Kearbey, Carlie McCaffree, Tayrin Schmitt, and Carsten Warner.

The team also hosted a Triangular meet with Carthage and Lamar on the evening of July 1, at the Walton Family Aquatic Center. The team finished second in the meet just behind Lamar in the team standings.

Jesse Claypool swam the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 34.93 to hold a new Neptune record for the 11 to 12-year-old boy's division.
