Thanks "FORE" Everything!

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Dear Editor:

The week of July 13-17, the Fourth Annual NHS Golf Academy was held at the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course. The purpose of this academy was to introduce the game of golf to young people and to further spark their interest and enjoyment of the game.

This clinic could not have taken place without the assistance and support of the following groups or individuals:

First and foremost, I want to thank all of the Tiger and Lady Tiger golfers who helped; Melea Galimberto, Mariah Jones, Jessica Mosbrucker, Myra Ornelas, Morgan Turner, Zach Braucher, Tyler Gast, Joseph Ferry, Justin Carter, and Taylor Handly. With the assistance of these volunteers, the academy ran smoothly and safely.

Next, I would like to thank Raymond, Linda, Alex and the entire crew at the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course. With their cooperation, the academy and tournament was an enjoyable experience for all.

I would like to thank my wife Rhonda and my son Brice, for putting their plans on hold for the week to assist me in the administration of the academy.

I would also like to thank First National Bank and Heritage State Bank for their support to help get the academy off to a successful start.

A special THANK YOU to the Emily DeBrine Foundation for their contribution to the academy.

I would like to thank Frank and Pat Arnold at Pat's Design Unlimited for their excellent work on the shirts for this academy. Shirts were ordered on Monday afternoon and delivered on Tuesday night.

Thank you Frank and Pat!

Finally I would like to thank all of the participants and their parents. I hope the parents will encourage their children to continue to practice and develop their skills. I hope the kids will continue to play golf, develop the skills they learned at the academy, and continue to appreciate the game of golf at a new level.

I know that there is probably someone I have forgotten to thank, so, to everyone involved with the academy: Thank You. I am looking forward to next year's academy.

Thank you,

Brian Leonard
