Husband is arrested in Norris shooting

Friday, July 31, 2009

San Luis Obispo, Calif. -- A 24-year-old man from San Miguel has been arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter charges in connection with the July 9, 2009 shooting death of his wife Tasha Dawn Norris. Tasha Norris was the granddaughter of Farrel and Phyllis Offret of Nevada and the sister of Lacee Wood of Moundville.

According to the San Luis Obispo Tribune's Web site, John A. Norris claimed to have accidentally shot his wife when he "tripped while trying to put a .45 caliber handgun away." The arrest took place two weeks after the incident as Norris went to a San Luis Obispo courthouse.

Norris was at the courthouse for a custody hearing concerning his children "who were placed in protective services after the shooting." Norris was booked at the county jail and is being held on a $25,000 bond.
