Dan and Elaine Day

Dan and Elaine Day, Topeka, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, on Aug. 23. Daniel Marcum Day and Bertha Elaine Swender were married on Aug. 23, 1959, at the First Christian Church in Fort Scott, Kan.

Dan is the son of Glenn and Irene (Marcum) Day who lived on a farm north of Kincaid and were later residents of Garnett, Kan. Elaine is the daughter of Embert and Lillie (Lee) Swender, who were residents of Fort Scott.

They have one son, Marc and his wife Lydia, who live in Brasilia, Brazil, where Marc is pastor of The International Baptist Church of Brasilia.

Dan retired from being involved in Real Estate and Appraising for many years, and Elaine retired after 18 years with Lawyers Title of Topeka where she was a legal assistant. Both are now involved in education as para-educators with Auburn-Washburn USD 437 in Topeka, where Dan is Job Coach at Washburn Rural High School and Elaine is at Farley Elementary School.
