Rosalie Handly of Milo was rumaging through some things at home when she found an old wallet containing this 1933 hunting and fishing license which belonged to her uncle Robert Moore who lived in the area near Halley's Bluff. This license allowed Moore to hunt in the counties adjoining Vernon County. It has season dates listed on the back and the familiar phrase, "This license does not authorize you to trespass." Residents did not need a license to hunt or fish in the county where they lived. Fish and game laws go back as far as 1816 in Missouri, and the sale of licenses began in 1905 as provided for by the Walmsley Law. In 1933, this license cost $1 and a statewide license cost $2.50. A state hunting and fishing license currently costs $19 for residents. The trespass phrase has been replaced with "Please Don't Litter." --Rusty Murry/Daily Mail
