Mildred L. Stoddard, 93, of Bryant, Ark., passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice House. She was born Dec. 2, 1915, in Calhoun County, Iowa, the daughter of John T. Reynolds and Bessie Mosher Reynolds. She married Rev. Edmund A. Stoddard, Sr. on Jan. 6, 1935, in Kansas City, Mo., and he preceded her in death.

Mildred was a high school graduate and attended one year in the seminary. She was proud to be a pastor's wife and worked many years as a church librarian and Sunday school teacher. She also worked for many years as a psychiatric aide at the Nevada State Hospital in Nevada, retiring in 1984. Following her retirement, she has resided in Enid, Okla., Nevada, and has spent the last years of her life with her son and daughter-in-law in Bryant, Ark. She was a member of the Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock, Ark.

Survivors include, one son, the Rev. Edmund Stoddard Jr. and his wife Earline, Bryant, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Kim Patton and her husband Jeff, Kathy Coup and her husband Jim, Lee Ann Rezai and her husband Morteza, all of Enid, Okla., Travis Stoddard and his wife Kim, Lee's Summit, Mo., Ellen Boling and her husband Ron, Newport, Ark., Andy Stoddard, CHDC Conway, Ark., Charles Stoddard and his wife Denise, Paragould, Ark., and Chad Stoddard and his wife Vicki, Marked Tree, Ark.; and 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Watson, Collinsville, Ill.; one son-in-law, Leon Newman, Enid, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Edmund A. Stoddard Sr.; one daughter, Sarah L. Newman; one son, Victor T. Stoddard; and one grandson, Kenton Tyler Stoddard.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Milo Cemetery, Milo, Mo.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday afternoon between noon and 1 p.m., prior to the services.
