Celebrity waiters and kitchen volunteers at the Aug. 29 Vernon County Cancer Relief fundraising dinner served 300 attractive, delicious dinners to seated guests in 17 minutes according to Mike Turnbull, chef for the event. Left to right are: Mark Guthrie, Bill Erwin, Rusty Murry, JoAnn Jones and Raymond Frazier. Kara Clow can be seen on the second serving line behind Jones and Frazier.

Bertha and Everett Periman, long time supporters of the Vernon County Cancer Relief fund, enjoy some conversation and the auction after the meal during the VCCR fundraising event held Sat. Aug, 29 at the Nevada Eagles Club. The annual event raised approximately $20,000 this year, all of which will be used helping cancer patients right here in Vernon County.
Wal-Mart general manager Gary DeCocq took home the trophy for the best tipped celebrity waiter. During the evening, DeCocq managed to collect $889.50 in tips, almost $50 ahead of the nearest waiter. The three top places brought in well over $2,000. -submitted photos
