Katy Allen Lake needs to be maintained

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Dear Editor:

I am wondering why Katy Allen Lake in Nevada is left unattended. The grass is sky high, the bridge has a board across it because it is old and broken. Who owns it? The city? The state? Katy Lake was used many years ago by the Katy Railroad; to me it is a historical landmark, but it looks like a snake infested swamp.

I think if the Katy Lake was cleaned up like Walton Lake or Radio Springs Lake it would make a nice place for an RV park. It is out of the way of busy streets and right off of 71 Highway. It would bring in people who would then be shopping at our grocery stores, gas stations and such. And maybe this would also keep people from doing drugs there. I used to fish at Katy with my dad and it would still be a nice place to fish if it was cleaned up.
