Veterans Town Hall on global war on terror issues Oct. 26

Wednesday, October 14, 2009
Nevada veterans' service officer Bill Gillette recently announced that the Missouri Veterans Commission in partnership with AmVets, the Missouri National Guard, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will hold a Veterans Town Hall/Listening Post at Camp Clark's Building 475 (Multi-purpose building), Nevada, Mo., on Monday, Oct. 26, from 6 p.m. -- 8 p.m.

Veterans and the public will have the opportunity to share their concerns and the issues veterans are facing now and in the future. On hand to answer questions will be members of the Missouri Veterans Commission, Veterans Service Organizations, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and other subject matter experts. Don Gosha, Veterans Benefits Administration Veterans Service Representative with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, will give a short presentation on issues faced by Global War on Terror service members.

"The more we know about what the needs and concerns of our veterans are," said Commission Executive Director Larry D. Kay, "the better we are able to address those needs now and in the future through legislative action and through Missouri Veterans Commission programs." The Missouri Veterans Commission operates seven State Veterans Homes, five State Veterans Cemeteries, and the Veterans Services Program. The Commission is committed to honoring and serving Missouri's Veterans whose dedication and sacrifices have preserved our nation and its freedoms.

For more information about the Missouri Veterans Commission programs, call (573) 751-3779 or access the Missouri Veterans Commission Web page at www.mvc.dps.mo.gov.

Gillette is in Nevada every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Missouri Career Center. His complete schedule is posted on the Missouri Veterans Commission Web site.
