Liberal football rolls past Osceola

Saturday, October 31, 2009

LIBERAL, Mo. -- The Liberal Bulldogs varsity football team ended regular season play on a strong note Thursday night as they earned a dominant victory over Osceola High School. Osceola couldn't seem to find an answer for anything the Bulldogs threw at them in the contest, ultimately resulting in a 50-0 Liberal victory.

Jordan Meadows got the scoring started for the Bulldogs just over 2 minutes into the game as he took a 63-yard run into the end zone to make it 6-0. That was just the first of three touchdowns on the night for Meadows, as he went on to score on a 44-yard run in the second quarter and a 6-yard run in the third.

Zach Lovell showed a similar performance as he took his first touchdown run of the night 14 yards to give the Bulldogs a 12-0 lead with 5:14 to go in the opening period. Lovell went on to record two more touchdowns on the night -- runs of 14 and 35 yards -- to bring his total to three as well.

Wade Sprinkle put the final nail in the coffin for the Bulldogs with 1:11 to go in the game on a 55-yard touchdown scamper, giving Liberal a 50-0 victory.

The Bulldogs dominated on both sides of the ball in Thursday's contest as they put up a staggering 582 yards of total offense -- 553 on the ground -- while holding Osceola to just 91. Osceola was held to just five first downs on the night as well, converting on just one of nine third downs.
