Beulah Abigail Watkins

Beulah Abigail Watkins, 94, Sheldon, Mo., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at her home in Sheldon following a lengthy illness. She was born March 6, 1915, in Sheldon, to John Moore and Martha Ellen Gonterman Moore. She married Cecil J. Watkins on July 3, 1936, in Carthage, Mo., and he preceded her in death in 1988.

Beulah was born and reared near Sheldon and spent virtually her entire life in this area. She worked for 10 years as a psychiatric aide at the Nevada State Hospital, but her primary joy in life was her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a lifetime member of the Sheldon Methodist Church, a past member of the Order of Eastern Star and PTA in Sheldon.

Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie McCarver, Rogers, Ark., Rosa Lee Raynor, Sheldon, and Pamela Watkins, Moundville, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Vickie Watkins, Pineville, Mo.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Velma Hall, Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by one son, Max Watkins; one daughter, Janice Watkins, five brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Lynn Quist officiating. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Sheldon Methodist Church in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
