In September, the Nevada Daily Mail garnered three awards in the Missouri Associated Press Managing Editors 2008 Photojournalism Contest in the statewide Division lll competition.
Long-time Nevada Daily Mail reporter/photographer Ralph Pokorny won first place in sports photography for a photo featuring a play at home plate by the Nevada Griffons. Several of Pokorny's photos of Griffons action have earned him awards throughout the years, but it's the first time he's earned the top honor in this category from this contest.
Pokorny also won second place in the feature photo class for a photo capturing a fun moment at a Nevada Fire Department Open House; and Nevada Daily Mail editor Lynn A. Wade's photo of students taking part in activities at the Osage Prairie YMCA gleaned the third-place nod in feature photos.

Congrats to Ralph! He's a great photographer and works hard at it. Where can we see the award winning pictures?
It would be wonderful to have re-run the winning photo(s).
