The Red Devils of Allen County looked as though they would be a very manageable opponent throughout the first half as the Comets were able to hold them to just 24 points to take a one-point lead into the locker room at halftime. The Lady Red Devils shot just 38 percent in the opening half from the field and a nearly identical 36 percent from 3-point range.
That all changed in the second half as the Comets' offense fell apart and Allen County came to life. The Lady Red Devils shot 57 percent in the final 20 minutes, allowing them to put up 52 second-half points to beat the Comets by a final score of 76-48. As a team, the Comets were unable to get any kind of offense going in the second half, shooting just 23 percent.
For the game, the Lady Red Devils combined to hit 49 percent of their shots from the field and went 11 for 14 from the free-throw line. The Comets shot just 32 percent from the field on the night and 11 for 21 from the stripe.
With that loss, the Comets fell to 1-4 on the year and are scheduled to be in action again on Friday as they return home to face Rhema Bible College in the first night of the Cottey College Classic at 5 p.m.
