The Nevada R-5 Building Trades house at 2013 North Lynn has sold for $152,000. The R-5 Board of Education met Thursday morning and approved the sale of the house to the lone bidder, Stacy Harper. The 1,700-square-foot three-bedroom, two-bath home features a tiled dining area, kitchen with pantry and oak cabinets, laundry room, living room with vaulted ceiling, a master bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and walk-in closet, covered deck and three-car garage.

The bidding process for the home was different this year, it was an open bid, current high bids were posted at the central office and interested parties could see what others had offered. The bidding opened Oct. 26, at 8 a.m. and bidders had to submit their bid on a form provided by the school in the central office along with $1,000 earnest money. Bids started at $152,000 and were to increase in $500 increments if other bids were received.

Bidders were to be notified if they were outbid and could have submitted a new bid until bidding closed. The clock on the close of bidding didn't start until the first bid was received, then bidders had five business days after that to place their bids. At the time he announced the process Superintendent David Stephens explained why the board set it up in that manner.

"That gives us some flexibility," Stephens said. "If we just said bidding would close on a certain date we might not even have any bids by then and we'd close the bidding without getting a single bid."
