PLEASANT HILL, Mo. -- After finishing out the first day with five wrestlers undefeated, the Nevada High School wrestling team continued their strong performance as all seven of their wrestlers brought home medals from the Steve Leslie Invitational tournament Friday and Saturday.

Senior Todd Brier had the best showing of the night for the Tigers as he finished first in the 160-pound bracket. Brier finished the tournament with pins in all nine of his matches, with only two of those matches going beyond the first period.

Freshman Slade Styles and sophomore Tanner Charles nearly had the same success as they both made it to the first place matches in their respective brackets. Styles lost by a 6-0 decision to Prairie View's Jace Roy while Charles lost to Prairie View's Bo Newport by a score of 10-2.

Senior Dominic Habjan lost to Boonville's Trevor Ditto in the semifinal match of the 125-pound bracket, sending him to the third place match where he beat Prairie View's Tyler Brown 12-10. Sophomore Kyle Bennett lost by pin to Prairie View's Josh Thoele, putting him in sixth place at 135 while sophomore Zach Shepherd lost a 9-3 decision in the 140-pound fifth place match against Osawatomie's Devin Dozier.

Senior Scotty Bough nearly gave the Tigers their second first-place medal for the tournament as he made it to the championship match at 145, but fell short as he lost a 20-7 decision to Carl Junction's Dalton England.

The Tigers are set to get back into action tonight as they return home to host Clinton and Marshfield.
