Fort Scott, Kan. -- A book signing has been set for Marcel Normand, retired Fort Scott Community College social science instructor, on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., in the Gordon Parks Center, located in the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center on the FSCC campus. Normand recently published an informal biography titled "Father John Reinkemeyer: God's Humble Servant." The book sells for $12 and Normand will have copies available to sign.

"'God's Humble Servant' is the story of an uncommon priest who wanted to be a farmer, but God had other plans," explains Normand. "He affected my life greatly in many areas, so I wove my own personal and family life into this biography."

Normand first met Father Reinkemeyer in 1964 while he was pastor of St. Joseph's Church at Arma, Kan. He and his family took instructions and not only accepted the basic truths of his teaching, but embraced them as a model for living. Now, 45 years later, at age 88, Reinkemeyer continues to celebrate mass daily near Garden Plains, Kan., where he serves as associate pastor.

Now retired, Normand continues to teach part time. He also serves on the FSCC Alumni and Friends Association board. For more information contact FSCC at 223-2700, ext. 515.
