Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Slick roads from Monday's winter storm led to a crash that left a Rich Hill woman with minor injuries, at 7:45 a.m.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Amanda D. Vangordon was hurt after she lost control of the 2007 Jeep she was driving on an ice-covered bridge, about 8 miles north of Nevada on southbound U.S. Highway 71. The Jeep slid into a 2005 Peterbilt, also southbound, driven by 43-year-old Weldon G. Halladay of Louisburg, Kan. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Vangordon suffered minor injures and was transported to a hospital in Butler. Halladay was not injured.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts at the time of the incident, the report said.
