Freshman girls defeat Paola

Thursday, February 11, 2010

The Nevada High School freshman girls' basketball team added another strong victory to their record as they defeated the Lady Panthers of Paola, Kan., Tuesday night.

The Lady Tigers got off to a very strong start in the contest, head coach Clay Wheeler said, and were able to keep up that tempo throughout the game on their way to a 37-22 victory. Taylor Thomas led the offensive effort for Nevada with a season-high nine points, followed closely by Victoria Culbertson with seven, Christian Novak with five, Lauren Baker and Paige Greer with four, Regan Kimbrough and Regan Kannady with three and Marissa Heard with two.

With that loss, the Lady Tigers' overall record dropped to 6-5 on the year and they are scheduled to be back in action again tonight as they head out on the road to take on the Lady Mustangs of McDonald County in Anderson, Mo.
