Flavel Melba Glass

Flavel Melba Glass, 91, Nevada, passed away on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. She was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Sylvania, Mo., (Dade County) to Arthur Davis and Clara Wilhelm Davis. She married George W. Glass on Nov. 21, 1936, in Golden City, Mo., and he preceded her in death in 1999.

Flavel was born in Dade County and grew up in Dade County near Golden City. She worked for O'Sullivan Industries from1966-1976. She and her husband moved to Nevada in December 1997. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Golden City.

Survivors include two sons, Max Allen Glass and his wife Paula, Frankford, Ky., and Rex Leon Glass and his wife Karen, Nevada; one daughter, Kathy Marie Shockley and her husband Barry, Willard, Mo.; grandchildren, Lisa Smith, Frankford, Ky., James Glass, Liberal, Kristie Kimzey, Bronaugh, Mo.; four great-grandchildren; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Glass, and one sister Wilma Scrivener.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Betty Plush officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dade County, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
