Events added to Good Ol' Days line-up
Fort Scott-Good Ol' Days announces a new addition to the lineup of activities for the annual festival. Accel Aviation, a flight training business, will offer introductory flights at 10 a.m., June 5 and 6, at the Fort Scott Airport. The flights will be 15 minutes in length and are $40 per flight for up to three people. For more information call (620) 365-3100.
The Fort Scott-The Valley of Fort Scott Scottish Rite in conjunction with Pittsburg Masonic Lodge No. 187 and Prudence Lodge No. 100 of Columbus, Kan., will also be getting involved in the festivities to help keep children safe. They will offer children's identification screening at 10 a.m., June 5, in front of the Scottish Rite Temple at 110 S. Main St, Fort Scott.
The screening consists of getting information such as the child's height, weight, body markings, fingerprints, and a DNA swab and photo of the child. The results will then be stored on a CD and given to the parent or guardian of the child. All information gathered on the computer about the child will be deleted at the end of the day so that the only copy is held by the parent or guardian. In case of an emergency or Amber Alert the parents or guardian can share the CD with law enforcement.
Good Ol' Days will be held on the evenings of June 3 and 4 and all day June 5 and 6. For information, visit the Good 'Ol Days Web site at www.fortscottgoodoldays.com.
