Council considers relaxing residency rules for city clerk

The Nevada City Council will be considering a resolution during tonight's meeting to waive the residence requirements for the city clerk to clear the way for Annette Crews to be appointed city clerk to replace Julie Lewis who has been transferred to the position of the city manager's executive assistant.

During a regular meeting set for 7 o'clock tonight in the council chambers, located inside the public safety building at 120 S. Ash, the council also will be holding a public hearing and considering an ordinance to rezone property at 300 S. Tower from R-1, single family to R-3, apartment house.

They will also be considering a new liquor license for the Cherry Street Grill, 127 E. Cherry St.

Other new business on the agenda include the appointments of Lori Fast and Brian Bell to three-year terms on the library board; Seth Barrett, as the city council ex-officio member of the planning commission and Lance Christie to a three-year term on the park board.

The council will also be holding the second readings of ordinances to: approve an amendment to the city's contract with Allgeier Martin and Associates for the wastewater treatment plant, approve a change order to the city's contract with G & G Construction to extend the completion date on the wastewater treatment plant and an ordinance changing the residency requirement for the city clerk.
