Vernon County Tourism looking for scary stories

Wednesday, July 14, 2010
The Nevada/Vernon County Tourism Department is currently working on a project of selected stories, from the community, that will help in the development of a possible future "haunted" tour of the area.

The area has an interesting montage of stories, from the Legend of Vera at Cottey College to Witches Bridge, west off U.S. Highway 54, that contributes to the rich history, the tourism department noted in a press release last week.

To enhance the effort, the Tourism Department is accepting submissions of supernatural haunting and paranormal activity in the area, from the public. These submissions may be used in the development of the proposed tour.

Submissions, to be accepted through August, may be mailed or dropped off the at tourism office, located on the lower level of the Carnegie Building at 225 W. Austin Blvd, Suite 200, Nevada, MO 64772.
