Lady Tigers softball wins eighth straight at home
The Nevada Lady Tigers softball team extended its season-opening winning streak to eight games with a 15-0 victory over Seneca Tuesday, at Bushwhacker Field.
Nevada sent 13 batters to the plate in the home half of the first inning and scored nine runs before adding two more in the second. The Lady Tigers needed just one more frame to end the game as they plated the game's final four runs in the bottom of the third.
Sophomore right-hander Christian Novak allowed a one-out double in the second inning and struck out five for her seventh win without a loss this fall.
Sophomore first baseman Tori Dahmer led the Lady Tigers' 10-hit offense with three hits and two RBIs. Olivia Culbertson was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Nikki O'Bryan, Mackenzie Pritchett, Jessica Neely, Tiffani Long and Paije Gibbs had one hit apiece. The two squads played a junior varsity game following the varsity, which ended in a 6-6 tie after three innings.
Nevada is 8-0 and will host Lamar, 2-0, at 5 p.m., today at Bushwhacker Field, weather permitting.
