Nationwide, sewers and quilters have joined the challenge to make and donate a total of 1 million pillowcases to their local charities in 2010. The Stitch in Time Quilt Guild members have been working to do their part. Each year the guild picks a cause to sew and donate items of need to and this year they are making the pillowcases, with a goal of at least 150. In the spring, the ladies made and donated 40 pillowcases to the Children's Center in Butler and the latest batch of 77 pillowcases were donated to the Moss House. They have three other places that will be receiving pillowcases before the end of the year. Stitch in Time had one sew in day and members met at Kountry Kin Fabric Shop for a day of sewing, food and visiting, making 32 pillowcases, of which members donated material and supplies. They hope to meet their goal and may exceed it by the end of the year. Anyone interested in making the pillowcases for charity can contact Rich Hill Kountry Kin at (417) 395-4797 for a simple pattern and information.
