Lady Knights beat Miami at home

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

The Lady Knights of Northeast Vernon County High School swept the Miami Eagles in Monday night's varsity and junior varsity doubleheader. The Lady Knights won the varsity match by the final scores of 25-23 and 25-21.

The Knights were experimenting with a new offense. "The girls took ownership of it and played it quite well," said head coach Teresa Lyness.

"The only thing that gave us any trouble was our serving," added assistant coach Kelly Bell. "We are getting so much better at digging, hitting, blocking and setting. We are very proud of these girls. They are improving all the time. Although we haven't won a lot of games, it has been a fun year."

The Lady Knights were scheduled to take on the Hume Lady Hornets on Tuesday in NEVC's final home match and were to honor their two senior players, Taylor Ast and Courtney Greer. Friday night, the Lady Knights will be in Bronaugh, to face the Wildcats and then off to the conference tournament on Saturday, at Hume.
