On April 19, 1965, she married Marc Marcano. Carol continued her education, graduating from PSU in 1970 with a B.S. in social work and in 1973 with a B.S. in nursing.

Marc and Carol lived in Pittsburg, Kan., Colorado, and Detroit, Mich., before settling in Kansas City in 1974. There they raised their four children. In 2009, Marc and Carol retired to Pittsburg.

Carol spent her professional life as a registered nurse. She was skilled in her field, conscientious and compassionate, the go-to medical person to her friends and family.
