Saturday, November 13, 2010
Nevada R-5 School Board president Chris Ellis presents Paxton Dahmer 25 copies of the official R-5 Christmas card, a gift certificate from Ellis Furniture and a certificate of appreciation during the Nov. 10 school board meeting.

The Nevada R-5 School District will be using a Christmas card designed by Paxton Dahmer, a fifth grade student at Truman Elementary School this year. Diann Marti, Truman principal, said that an art instructor coordinated the contest and the top 10 designs were selected and forwarded to the superintendent's office. David Stephens, R-5 superintendent, said that his office staff narrowed the number of finalists to five and the members of the R-5 Board of Education selected Dahmer's design during their October board meeting.

Nevada R-5 School Board members Steve Cubbage, left, Larry Forkner and Chris Ellis, take their turn at judging the five finalist designs.
