NHS District, State band members selected

On Tuesday, Nov. 2, Nevada High school students traveled to Webb City to audition for the District Honor Band. The following students made the band and traveled to Missouri Southern State University on Saturday, Nov. 6, for an all-day rehearsal and a 7 p.m. concert. Students who were selected for the honor band as well as the alternates were eligible to try out for State band on Dec. 4, in Columbia. Paige Burris was selected as first alternate clarinet at the All-State tryouts.

From left to right the district students are: Sammy Nelson, first oboe; Paige Burris, first clarinet; Doug DeCocq, first bassoon; Sable Smith, ninth clarinet; Raymond Sworde, first alternate tuba; Ashley McKinley, first flute; Nathan Conley, first alternate percussion; Shelby Thorns, third flute; Dennis Mowry, second alto sax; Elisabeth Anderson, sixth flute; Lauren Young, ninth flute; Cathryn Anderson, second alternate flute; Bailey Jones, first alternate trumpet; Emily Hogan, first alternate alto saxophone. Not pictured: Colby Smith, first alternate baritone.
