Iona Mae Purvis, 87, Nevada, passed away on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born on Oct. 17, 1923, in Oswego, Kan., to Lloyd Laverne Peak and Edyth Ethel Ladsdowne Peak. She married Arthur L. Purvis on Feb. 14, 1946, in Oaklawn, Ill., and he preceded her in death.

Iona grew up in Kansas, then graduated from high school in Story City, Iowa. She and her husband lived in the Chicago, Ill., area for a time, then moved to Lake of the Ozarks in 1963 where they owned and operated a resort there. She moved to the Rt. 3, Lamar, Mo., area where she lived from 1967-1989. She has resided in Nevada ever since.

Survivors include four daughters, Kathleen Stoller, Jerico Springs, Mo., Evelyn Warren, Kissimmee, Fla., Gayle Meyers, Spokane, Wash., and Erma Day, Nevada; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Julie; one brother; and two sisters.

No services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
