Robert J. "Bob" Guerrant, 85, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at Callaway Community Hospital. He was born Aug. 6, 1925, the son of J. Wesley and Sophia (Jatho) Guerrant. He was united in marriage on Dec. 6, 1951, to Margie Stratton. She survives at the home.

Bob graduated from Fulton High School in 1943. He proudly served in the Counter Intelligence Corps of the United States Army, earning the rank of Corporal, from 1951 until 1953 which was during the Korean Conflict. In his early years, he delivered mail by horse as a substitute mail carrier. Along with his wife, he owned and operated Bob Guerrant Insurance in Fulton for 39 years. He earned the CLU and LUTC agent designations. Bob was a life-long farmer in Callaway County. He was president of the school board for the Brown School District for many years. He was a man of strong faith, serving as a church deacon and dedicated Sunday school teacher. He was involved in the Trucker's Ministry at Gasper's in Kingdom City, active in assisting the start of the Reform Baptist Church mission, and participated in the start of the Callaway Baptist Association Training Union. He served as the state ddirector for Missouri Baptist Training Union. Bob was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Karen Hertzberg and husband, Steve, of Nevada, Mo.; one son, Tim Guerrant and wife, Marcia, of Fulton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Blake Hertzberg and wife, Amy, of Nevada, Mo., Darcy Herold and husband, Jason, of Prairie Village, Kan., and Jacob and Jessica Guerrant of Fulton, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Paige and Parker Hertzberg of Nevada, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Cave and husband, Andy, of New Bloomfield, Mo., and Dorothy Love and husband, Chester, of Fulton, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Jane Guerrant of Georgia; and one aunt, Dorothy Guerrant of Fulton, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gordon Owen Guerrant; and numerous cousins and other family members.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 14, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with pastors Ron Baker, Gary Garrett and Preston Thompson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Southside Baptist Church or Reform Baptist Church.
